As winter approaches…

Yesterday Gary Maurer and I finally got the calving barn cleaned out and now all I have to do is sweep and get the bedding in and I am ready for January! This was a huge relief to have the job done and done before the snow falls. But as the close of that project comes I take a look around the farm and realize that I am no where near prepared for winter. I still have bedding to put down and hay rings to fix and water heaters fixed and turned on…. the list goes on and on. The good news is Mother Nature has played nice so far and as we all know that will change but it sure has been a big help! The cows are still out in the creek pasture and the calves have really started to put weight on and are coming into their own. The work never ends and I sure hope it never does.

The cows enjoying one of their last days down in the creek pasture.

P.S. It is Veterans Day…. Thank you to all of the men and women who serve our country and protect us each and every day.
