The past three weeks have been filled with many nights and weekends spent at the barn, but Jon and I are excited that State Fair Weekend has finally arrived.
This year we will be showing five Herefords at the Iowa State Fair. We’ll be showing an Advance S109 cow and her March Supercharger heifer calf. We also will have two more heifer calves, with one sired by Advance S109 and the other by Shock & Awe in the string. As luck would have it all three heifer calves were born on the same day. It was definitely a busy calving day at JJB. All three of these heifer calves will be for sale. Finally, we will be showing a bred heifer out of sired by Shock & Awe and out of the Ginger Gal cow that Jon won the 2005 JHNE with! We are very excited about our bred who we call Teardrop.
Be sure to stop by the stall if you are attending the fair this weekend. We move in on Saturday and will show on Monday. The coolers will be full of cold drinks and food. And fellow Hereford Breeder, Jill Harker, has been sharing show day her crockpot recipes with me.
Our newest addition to the herd. An August heifer calf out of Breakout and another S109 daughter. We named her Nothing Compares in honor of the Iowa State Fair slogan.
