Long Time No Post

I have finally for a quick second caught my breath, maybe. It has been rather crazy in the world of JJB as of late in between calving and traveling and getting things in order on the SLCR site for the big push to build for what will be an awesome May Sale. Now I can finally let you know what has been going on with my cows. It has been a rather eventful year calving and I am not even half done yet! After the bottle calf came around I had a cow loose her calf after he got hip-locked and that did enough damage that the cow had to be put down… Then the next cow to calve seemed to take forever to finally drop her calf and when she finally decided to there were TWO! A bull and a heifer out of Milli and both are doing great but wow what initial shock! I took some great pictures that you can see on my facebook fanpage. The bottle calf is growing and actually looks really really good. I now have four cows that look like they could calve at any time. The weatherman tells me it is going to rain Thursday, Friday and Saturday so guess when they will calve. All in all things have been going well some lessons learned some bumps and bruises but I will surely get better from them.
I also wanted to be sure that my fellow Hereford enthusiasts know about the Star Lake St. Patrick’s Day Semen Sale. The sale will give you 20% off all semen on the Star Lake website and there are also some awesome packages that are being offered that give even better savings. These genetics are what my herd is comprised of and I have great confidence in them! Plus you get a free t-shirt with each order and who doesn’t like free stuff!

Fantasy the Bottle Calf running a muck!
